Not a darn thing, that's what. Kevin wasn't hungry and I didn't want anything that was in the refrigerator. So I went to our snack cabinet and noticed these GoPicnic meals that I bought at Costco a while back. The pack had two of the turkey stick meals and two of the hummus meals... I thought they could be good for skiing or plane trips. They're gluten free, and all/mostly natural -- as in, you can actually pronounce all of the ingredients. So, I busted out the Turkey Stick and Crunch and it was actually really good! 300 calories and the sodium content isn't as high as you might expect for no-refrigeration-needed.... only 10% of the daily value. I am noticing that the meal in my box is different from what is listed on their website, so I'm not sure if they've changed things up since I bought it. They now have a cookie instead of a hunk of dark chocolate, grr. But, it was very good and would be great for on-the-go. You can also buy them at Amazon.com in 6 packs.

I finally got to try out the convection feature of my new oven today. Convection heating uses a fan to blow the air around inside the oven... it's supposed to cook more evenly. I don't see myself needing to use this feature very often... but with two sheets of cookies, I wanted to give it a try. Normally, I would have to swap racks in the middle of baking because the top sheet always cooks faster than the bottom. I was hoping that with the convection I wouldn't have to do that, but it still seemed that the bottom rack needed an extra minute or so. Oh well, more experimentation needed! I might try separating the racks more next time, and putting the sheets offset so they are not one right on top of the other.
But, the fruits of my labor -- the pumpkin cookies -- turned out great. I was trying to avoid adding too much powdered sugar because I didn't want it to be super, super sweet, so I ended up with more of a glaze than a frosting, but a little goes a long way (I used less than half of the frosting). If you put too much on, you lose the flavor of the pumpkin. This is a great unique cookie for your holiday platter! Okay, so I'm changing things around again... (hopefully for the last time!)
I've decided to combine That 70's House and That 70's Kitchen into one blog so I can have one place to talk about decorating, upgrading the house, cooking, life, family and whatever else I feel like jabbering about. My new blog is called Adventures in Sherwood Forest! Though I will no longer be updating That 70's House and That 70's Kitchen, the search widget in the sidebar will search those pages, so you should be able to find anything you're looking for. Also, I've created a new Recipe Index that will list all of the recipes I showcase on the blog, so you can browse it anytime you want! The link to the recipe index is at the top of this page. Please remember to change your subscriptions if you are receiving the blog via email or feed. There is an email subscription block in the sidebar. You will receive no more emails from That 70's House or That 70's Kitchen. Thanks for sticking around! We're looking forward to sharing all of our upcoming adventures with you! |
