She had another doctor appointment today and she gained 4 ounces in two days. She's a much happier baby now -- she actually has awake time where she's just 'awake' and not screaming and she let me sleep for 3 hours last night. Diaper changes are now mostly drama-free, though that seems like a limited time offer, so you really have to get it done while the gettin's good.
Food Coma
We took Claire to her first doctor's appointment on Monday... as we suspected, it seems that my milk has not fully come in yet and Claire wasn't getting enough to eat. That's why she was sleeping all day and crying all night. I had an appointment with a lactation consultant at the hospital that same day and they put me on a plan to breastfeed her, and then supplement with formula while also pumping for some time after each feeding to try to increase my milk supply.

I'm glad you figured it out. Sleep for all is a very good thing! Milk doesn't come in for 3 or more days and there is nothing wrong with supplementing until it does. Sarah was ravenous after she was born and there just wasn't anything there for her yet. She was screaming unless she was latched on to me and after about 12 hours I couldn't take it any more. I called the nurse and told her to take her to the nursery and give her a bottle because she was hungry. The nurse about gave me the evil eye because I suggested it, but I got some sleep, my chest got a much needed rest and Sarah finally had a full stomach. We were both much happier people :) She never had a bottle after my milk came in. The twins were both bottle and breast fed from the time they were born. Once Carissa came home from the NICU I just didn't have enough for both of them. The got 'the good stuff' from me first and then topped off with a bottle. They turned out pretty well despite having to have formula too, I think ;)
